WHAT POVERTY MEANS TO ME!

April 9th, 2008 by 5thgrade

People in Montrose are considered poor because we don’t get what we always want.We are not living on the streets poor, but money doesn’t grow on trees. Some people need to ask a dollar for food. That’s what I think poverty is. We need to work together and help with this problem. Go Montrose!!

Mason

    Mason,
You are so right! We need to work together and help with poverty in Montrose. Knowing that your class is taking time to think and write about poverty is a great first step. We need to be aware of everyone in Montrose, and where we might find poverty. It doesn’t mean Montrose people are living in the street with nothing to eat, but it could mean some people have to struggle to make ends meet. Can you think of some ways we can help or make a difference in Montrose? If you can, share them with us.

    Thanks,
    Connie Smith

Tony’s wife Irma says: I am very proud of you Mason for being so concerned about the poverty of people. I hope to work in the garden to plant and raise food for those who need it. Won’t that be fun to do with you young people helping? I look forward to meeting you.

    Thank You
    Irma Armagno
